We had a great year, and it’s inspiring to watch the students grow in faith. The latest opportunity I had was at our Lenten Retreat for grades 6-10. The theme was “I Make a Difference.” We talked about how every choice or action they make has an impact on them and others. And every impact is either negative or positive. We discussed Bible stories which had both negative and positive impacts. With Adam and Eve, picking the apple from the forbidden tree had the most negative impact, creating original sin for us all. And then the most positive being our last 3 days of Lent, the Triduum—Jesus accepting his cross, dying and rising for us all. We talked of choices they could make that would bring a positive impact on family, school, church and community. This awesome group of students came up with some amazing ways to reach out in all four areas to make a difference. One in particular was to reach out to someone in need of friendship or help and promise to make a positive difference in their life. Now if we all did this—what an impact that would make in our world. Keep your eyes open to the needs of others and “Be the difference you want to see in the world.”

Summer events and RE information for next year will be mailed out. God bless.—Karen Maiers
