Women of Faith – Women of
Action
October 14, 2007 Council of Catholic Women
Recognition Sunday
Supporting, empowering and educating members
in spirituality,
leadership and
service; reaching out with Gospel values to
meet
the needs of
Church and society.
All women in our parish are members of the
Council of Catholic Women; we serve our parish and our community in the
following ways.
Church Community: to keep CCW
members focused on the need for prayer in our daily lives and our
families.
Family Concerns: To keep CCW members informed on issues
and concerns directly affecting our
families.
Community Concerns: to keep CCW members informed of
community activities and ways to help improve our community
life.
International Concerns: to support the many areas of mission
work.
Legislative Concerns: to help women become aware of
legislative issues that affect our lives.
Reverence Life: to promote
respect of life from conception to natural
death.
Scholarship: to help members be
aware of scholarships for leadership in CCW, our church and our
community.
Funeral Committee: we are called upon to serve
approximately 20-25 funerals a year, this is a service provided to all
parishioners. We also are called
upon to serve or provide food and help for other functions at the
church.
Burns Manor Beauty Shop: St. Anastasia’s CCW provides volunteers
on the third Wednesday afternoon of each month to staff the beauty shop,
shampooing and setting hair for the
residents.
Burns Manor Birthday Party: St.
Anastasia’s CCW serves cake and coffee and provides a program for the November
birthdays.
Pray and Stitch: a group that
enjoys knitting, crocheting and sewing!
They make everything from little booties for
premature babies to shawls, caps and blankets. Items are donated to hospitals, missions
for the homeless and a mission in
Baptismal Gowns: gowns are made
by CCW for all babies to receive at St. Anastasia’s
baptisms.
St. Monica’s Group: this group
offers help and support to those who are widowed, divoriced or single.
St. Monica’s intent is to help celebrate a fuller life through spiritual,
social and educational activities.
Rummage Sales: two sales are held each year to raise
funds for necessary expenses incurred within the organization. Our rummage sales are also a service to
the community, providing goods at a low price for those in need. CCW contributes to many charities.
Contributions are directed to diocesan, community and parish
needs.
