JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE:    School Principal                  

REPORTS TO:   Pastor                             

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.            SPIRITUAL—Development of School Community of Faith

A.            Demonstrates belief in Catholic philosophy and goals of the school.

B.           Provides leadership in the development of the school faith community by facilitating prayer and worship for students, teachers, and parents.

C.           Creates an atmosphere of spiritual growth and Christian values.

D.           Collaborates with others to define the school’s philosophy, goals, and initiatives.

E.           Works with faculty in developing codes of conduct which reflect the Gospel message.

F.            Supports the religious education programs of the parish, in particular the sacramental process.

G.           Provides opportunities for teachers and staff to study Church documents and literature that impact Catholic education.

2.            PERSONNEL

A.        Recruits, interviews, contracts, and supervises the faculty and school support staff—including teachers, paraprofessionals, school secretary, school lunch program personnel, and Kids’ Depot director.

B.       Establishes clear job descriptions for the faculty and school support staff.

C.       Implements the plan providing for growth, development, and evaluation of the faculty and support staff.

D.       Plans in-service sessions according to faculty needs.

E.       Conducts effective faculty meetings.

F.        Represents school faculty within the parish leadership.

3.            ADMINISTRATIVE

A.        Supervises the daily operation of the school.

B.        Promotes safety and welfare of children and staff in the building.

C.       Cooperates and complies with state codes for schools, Diocesan guidelines, and education committee policies.

D.       Supervises the preparation of the school and school-related program budgets.

E.        Establishes and administers a program for tuition payment review and follow-up.

F.        Directs the available financial and human resources to accomplish the stated goals.

G.       Maintains all school-related records and reports. Assures required reports are timely and accurate.

4.            EDUCATION LEADER

A.         Guides curriculum review and development to integrate the students’ intellectual, religious, social, physical, and emotional growth.

B.        Involves faculty, students, and parents in decisions that affect them.

C.        Directs the accreditation process.

D.        Implements and reviews methods to evaluate and report student competencies.

E.        Demonstrates interest in professional self-development and encourages faculty to do the same.

5.            EDUCATION COMMITTEE RELATIONSHIPS

A.         Performs responsibility as an executive officer of the committee.

B.        Assists in initiating and developing local committee policies.

C.        Prepares and administers the regulations which implement committee policy and the directives of the Diocesan Evangelization and Catechesis Committee.

D.        Informs and confers with the Education Committee in those areas which are Education Committee responsibility.

E.        Provides in-service for newly appointed Education Committee members.

6.            STUDENT AND COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS

A.      Maintains open communications with Pastor, staff, faculty, parents, students, school and parish organizations, and the larger community.

B.     Represents the values, needs, efforts, and accomplishments of the school to the community.

C.     Assumes final responsibility for student discipline.

D.     Collaborates with local groups in school-related programs.

E.     Maintains cooperative relations with other schools in the area.

7.            PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT

A.         Provides wisdom and vision for long range planning.

B.        Initiates with staff short-term and long-range planning of goals and objectives.

C.        Supports the growth of a parish-wide fund-raising and development plan.

DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRY

St. Anastasia Catholic Community is seeking a Director of Youth Ministry. Minimum qualifications: practicing Roman Catholic; experience working with youth; good computer, communication, and organizational skills; able to work evenings and weekends when needed. POSITION TITLE:     Director of Youth Ministry

REPORTS TO:          Pastor

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:  In collaboration with the Director of Religious Education, respond to the catechetical, spiritual, and social needs of youth and young adults, as well as the family as a whole. Collaborate with the DRE in planning, implementing, and evaluating catechesis and youth ministry, keeping in mind the goal of all faith formation, fostering a faith that is “living, conscious and active…” (NCD #32).

(In the Diocese of New Ulm, we group all we do under the segments of Word, Worship, & Service.)

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.            Ministry of the Word, which proclaims and teaches catechesis/youth ministry

A.            In collaboration with the DRE, participate in religious education and faith formation of youth and young adults.

B.           Participate in scheduling, designing, implementing, & evaluating religious ed/youth ministry.

C.           Help recruit, train, and supervise catechetical leaders. Offer support to catechists, including catechists for special needs students.

D.           Support and assist volunteers.

E.           Participate in maintaining religious education/youth ministry files, resource materials, program and attendance records, and parish membership status.

F.            Be familiar with and strive to implement parish and document policies as they relate to faith formation.

G.           Participate in communicating religious ed/youth ministry happenings within the parish and community at large via parish bulletin, special mailings, newsletters, and local paper.

 

2.            Ministry of Worship, which sanctifies through prayer and sacrament

A.        Collaborate with the DRE in sacramental preparations as appropriate, such as Confirmation, offering parent gatherings, planning liturgical celebrations for the sacraments, and facilitating the implementation of RCIC as the need arises.

B.        Collaborate with the DRE to provide opportunities for retreats and liturgies for students and families throughout the year.

C.       Provide opportunities for youth and young adults to grow in their spirituality and Catholic faith.

D.       Work with the Diocesan RE/YM office to bring our parish into active participation with diocesan youth events (TEC, festivals, rallies, Region IIX leadership camp, diocesan youth council, etc.)

 

3.            Ministry of Service, which is linked to efforts to achieve social justice…expressed spiritual and corporal works of mercy

A.        Share responsibility as a team player with the parish staff by setting and evaluating goals, building faith community, providing resources and participating in staff meetings.

B.        Participate in providing educational opportunities and service-oriented experiences for all ages.

C.       Participate in leading, advising, and working with groups such as catechists, youth council, and ecumenical outreach.

D.       Be a member of the Education Committee.

E.        Support and participate in diocesan-sponsored retreats, conventions, meetings.

F.        Share in parish goals, mission awareness, and social justice needs.
